Overcoming the Lies of the Abortion Industry

Praying Hands

In a culture saturated with misinformation, the abortion industry thrives on persuasive narratives that often conceal painful truths. As Christians, we are called not only to stand for life but to do so with clarity, compassion, and conviction. It’s time to expose the myths and speak truth in love.

Myth #1: “It’s just a clump of cells.”
Science and Scripture both affirm that life begins at conception. From the moment of fertilization, a unique human life is formed—with its own DNA, heartbeat, and potential. Psalm 139:13 reminds us, “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb.” The humanity of the unborn is not a religious opinion—it’s a biological fact.

Myth #2: “Abortion empowers women.”
The truth is that many women feel pressured into abortion by partners, family, or circumstances. Far from empowerment, abortion can lead to deep emotional, physical, and spiritual wounds. True empowerment offers real support—like pregnancy options consultations, parenting classes, material support, and community care.

Myth #3: “Pro-lifers only care about the baby, not the mother.”
This common accusation ignores the countless churches, ministries, and organizations walking alongside women before and after birth. Compassionate care is at the heart of the pro-life mission. At WELS Lutherans for Life, we value every life—the unborn child, the mother in crisis, and the father seeking guidance. We are committed to supporting a decision for life from the point of decision until the child is 5 years old.

Equipping with Truth and Compassion
Jesus came full of grace and truth (John 1:14), and so should we. Truth without love alienates; love without truth misleads. Christians are called to stand firm in biblical truth while extending mercy to those who are hurting or misled. Whether you’re counseling a friend, speaking in public, or sharing online, always lead with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

Every conversation is a chance to plant seeds of hope. Every prayer is a plea to God for justice. Every act of compassion is a reflection of Christ.

Let’s continue to speak for the voiceless, shine light into darkness, and bring healing where there’s been harm.
